Central Coast + Newcastle, New South Wales

Just over an hour north of Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle together offer some of New South Wales’ most appealing coastal lifestyles. The Central Coast, home to around 355,000 residents and a $20.8 billion economy, combines golden beaches, lush bushland, and a strong sense of community with over 140,000 local jobs across health, construction, retail, and education. Outdoor living is central here, with surfing, hiking, and kayaking just part of daily life, while local markets, festivals, and creative spaces add cultural energy.

Just a little further north, Newcastle blends surf, style, and soul, with 168,800 residents and a broader urban population of 465,000, supporting a Gross Regional Product of A$22.7 billion and over 144,000 jobs. Its golden beaches, coastal walks, heritage buildings, cafés, and vibrant arts scene create a city that balances urban opportunity with coastal calm.

Together, these regions offer residents and visitors alike a mix of natural beauty, economic opportunity, and creative, laid-back living along NSW’s stunning coastline.

Heatherbrae

Heatherbrae is a suburb 40 minutes north of the city of Newcastle. It is about 10mins to the beach.

The suburb straddles the Pacific Highway and is bounded on the west by the open space and the Hunter River.

Within the suburb is a public high school and essential services. The suburb of Raymond Terrace immediately north has many of the services in easy reach including primary schools, parks and recreation centres on the  Lake.  The coast and national parks are only a stone's throw away to the north and east.

Being so close to Newcastle, Heatherbrae has access to a range of services including hospitals and tertiary education institutions, entertainment and dining and shopping precincts.

Morisset

Morisset, in the Lake Macquarie region of New South Wales, sits about 1.5 hours north of Sydney and an hour south of Newcastle, offering a relaxed lakeside and bushland lifestyle with good connectivity via the M1 motorway and train line. The suburb combines natural beauty — Lake Macquarie’s waterfront and the nearby Watagan Mountains — with a growing town centre that includes shops, cafes, schools, and community facilities. It’s increasingly popular with families, retirees, and commuters seeking space and affordability while remaining within reach of major hubs.

The area is part of a broader growth corridor, with new housing estates, infrastructure improvements, and commercial developments underway. Morisset’s appeal lies in its balance of nature and convenience — a quieter lifestyle close to the lake, yet poised for ongoing expansion as one of the Hunter region’s key growth areas.
